The Random Series is an open project that proposes a particular photographic exercise that will be repeated in different cities. This third chapter, The Random Series -madrileño trip-, was made in Madrid, the city in which I have been established for years. In these series we find a strange approach to photography, to the city and to oneself. During my stay in each city, I have been photographing my day to day intense and instinctively, compiling a series of images that will be the raw material of the final digital collages. In my attitude to photography - and to Madrid in this case - I want curiosity and instinct to prevail; one where the features of the flâneur are mixed, of the Japanese tourist obsessed with documenting everything and - perhaps most interestingly - the chaotic gaze of the baby who is still governed by an unconscious life that is unconventional and unconventional, who faces things for the first time. The snapshots often aim to be nothing more than scans of subjective sensations and the city is the excuse, the setting in which to let oneself be carried away and receive the stimuli specific to each context, which will be peculiarly filtered out in the final series. In the process of creating these collages, we take advantage of the error of a software that is not programmed to sew images with no apparent relationship. We do not know the cutting and joining parameters that the program is going to follow and, therefore, the unexpected becomes the protagonist and sets the rhythm of the series. As we can see, the final result is largely left to chance.

-Romanzo-

This second chapter, The Random Series, was produced during a 9-month residency at the Spanish Academy in Rome between 2012 and 2013.

 -berliner treats-

The first chapter, The Random Series -berliner trato-, was produced during a one-year residency at Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin in 2010.

In the publication - made on the occasion of the exhibition in Berlin and which includes the complete series - the marked experimental character is extended to the literary field through a process parallel to that used in the photographic series. The source text has been translated into different languages using the imprecise translation tools that can be found on the Internet.

Therefore, we find quite incongruous texts, difficult and uncomfortable to read that seem to warn us that sometimes reason and language are not enough.
