"Photographs are not the ultimate goal of our work, but the vehicle in which the emotions of anti-heroes from both sides of the Strait have travelled, making some, those from the south, discover their past and others, those from the north, discover the present of a place they hold in their hearts. Like us, who already feel like citizens of that vast space in which we have tried to turn physical borders into imaginary ones." (The Mechanical Cyclops)

El Jebha (The Front, in Spanish) is a small coastal village located in the north of Morocco, in the foothills of the Rif mountain range. Named Puerto Capaz during the Spanish Protectorate, El Jebha is and has been a privileged witness to the recent history of coexistence between Spain and Morocco.

The Mechanical Cyclops is a collective constituted in 2006 with the aim of organizing and developing activities and projects related to photography and image.

In 2012 he decided to undertake his first photographic project as a collective, which gave rise to El Frente and the participation in the 19th FotoPres Scholarship of the La Caixa Foundation.

The current members of the collective and authors of this project are Arturo Andújar, Maru Capón, Sergio Castañeira, Manolo Espaliú and Sergio Flores.
