Series is an attempt to examine the work of Enrique Metinides "from the perspective of cinematography, sequentially revealing facts that come together in a substantial way to form a common motif with thematic continuity at least between the various episodes of his work.

This iconoclastic approach allows us to see that Enrique Metinides' work is as much about reality as it is about fiction. Showing that an act took place, which is what really happened, the photographs give the opportunity to vindicate its real and fictitious aspects, but also allows viewers to become aware of their own confusion in their struggle to take a vis-à-vis ambiguous position and makes it possible for them to modify their way of looking.

Enrique Metinides

Mexico City, February 12, 1934. The son of Greek immigrants, he published his first photograph at the age of twelve, earning the nickname "El Niño". A year later he became a photographer's assistant for the tabloid La Prensa, starting a prolific five-decade-long career as a photographer. Throughout his life he has taken thousands of photographs that have been published in La Prensa, Alarma y Crimen. He is often compared to the American photographer Weegee for his crude depictions of harsh reality.
