Chasing Dragons is a photographic journey through contemporary China that explores the transformation of the dragon: an ancient symbol which, shaped by the logic of consumption and commodification, is now reproduced as an image, a commodity and an everyday object.

The project stems from a teenage fascination with an oriental imagery shaped by life in Mallorca, amidst Chinese restaurants, martial arts films and golden dragons. Fourteen years later, Yago Soria travels to China and, aware of the clichés and contradictions that accompany the gaze of a Western photographer, decides to embrace his status as a tourist and take it to the point of absurdity. What begins as a deliberate search for the stereotype gradually becomes a visual obsession: the dragon begins to appear everywhere.

Through satire and self-reflection, *Chasing Dragons* explores the distance between a place and its representation, between culture and its commodification, and between what we believe we are discovering and the images we already carried within us. The project takes shape in a publication conceived alongside Pablo Chamorro as a Chinese restaurant menu, in homage to the Kung Fu restaurant in Palma, where this particular story of fascination began.
