We know that memories are real and that they are not real. So much so that we can have memories of events that did not happen or of events that did not happen as we remember them. Who is lying if our memory does not match the one shown in the photograph? Who do we believe if the reality recalled by the camera is different from the one in our memory? The real and the fictitious mix in our minds to compose our memories. In this double or triple game we live and we are. False memories are also memories.

The artist takes us on this journey through memory as mediums do. The final station is identity, a recurring theme in his work. It is memories, true and false, that construct our identity. We are, basically, water and memories. But Uxío does not move here between reality and fiction, between what we remember that was real and what was not, or between how we are and how we would like to be, but rather with how we see, with what we see, in this case, and what we remember and will remember. The photos, here, are photos: revealed shorthand of the lived reality. But they are also a metaphor, and not of our eyes, but of our brain, where the memory of what we have seen, of what we have lived, will be formed and kept with the veil of memory. Like the veil of paper that covers some of the photographs in this unique work made up of thirty-four pieces.

In the contrast of these photographs are memory and memories. Between the clear city that we see, the veiled city that we will remember and the photographic work on display. The memory of the memory. Between what we see and what is. Between what we see and what we remember. Between what we remember and what we store. Between what we remember and what we tell. Between what we tell and what was.
