The four seasons of the Tajogaite volcano.

This book traces the eruption and formation of the Tajogaite volcano, one of the most shocking events in our recent history, in the Cumbre Vieja natural park, near the village of El Paraíso.

A follow-up through the photographs taken by Eduardo Nave on the island of La Palma between 2021 and 2022.

The photographer takes as a reference the painter and engraver Katsushika Hokusai, who fell in love with Mount Fuji, one of the three sacred mountains of Japan, and portrayed it from every possible angle, until he invoked it in Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji.

Eduardo Nave is neither a volcanologist nor an explorer, but he could well be one because, when the volcano awoke, he went to the island of La Palma to capture not only the eighty-five days it was active, but also its life during the four seasons and to discover, as did the first explorers and Hokusai himself, what a volcano is.

Eduardo Nave is one of the most established photographers of his generation. He is the founder, along with thirteen other artists, of the contemporary photography collective NOPHOTO. Since 2001 he has been a regular contributor to national and international media, and has received important awards and grants for his work, such as the Fujifilm Euro PressPhotoAwards, third prize in the 11th edition of the ENAIRE Foundation Photography Prize and the prize for the best book of the year at PHotoESPAÑA 2018. He has held numerous solo and group exhibitions, and his work is present in many public and private collections.
