The publication is the result of seven years' work, in which the author portrays the Left Bank of the Bilbao Estuary from a personal point of view.

In 1993, two photojournalists of the time, Jesús Ángel Miranda from Baracaldo and Fidel Raso from Sestao, published the book "Margen izquierda, últimas huellas de identidad" (Left Bank, last traces of identity), a lesson in photography of the period in a graphic document of the 1980s and early 1990s on the Left Bank of the Bilbao Estuary, the place where David de Haro grew up.

Taking that publication as a reference, David picks up the baton and shows a territory that has changed completely, in which new generations, migrations and realities have given way to a place where so many families came from other communities to work and live above the deep mines and smoking chimneys. The same place where new services and new industries have given way to the dirty clouds and sewage of yesteryear.

According to the author himself, "it is a book of stories that make up the portrait of a region and its inhabitants, from the point of view of someone who has grown up there, of another member of the territory". Through more than fifty photographs and several texts by the inhabitants of the Left Bank, David de Haro shows us a series of portraits, landscapes and still lifes that form a self-portrait constructed from his experience, memories and perspective of what it is like to live in a place like the Left Bank of the Bilbao Estuary.
