In "MAQUIS", Jesús Monterde's second book after his successful "NEMINI PARCO", the photographer from Benassal, Alto Maestrazgo, takes us back to one of the most tragic moments in our recent history: the 1940s. A period marked by repression, economic autarchy, hunger and the existence in our country of a group of anti-Francoist guerrilla fighters who, from their hiding places in rural and mountainous areas, fought the dictatorship until they literally shed their last drop of blood. We are talking about the maquis, who over the last few years have become the object of study of Monterde, who has investigated their movements and travelled, camera in hand, to countless places, paths and farmhouses close to their territory in search of the heavy silence of the night to put him in contact with the spirit and the memory of the maquis.
