The Centre Internacional de Fotografia Barcelona (CIFB) was a unique initiative in the Spanish photographic culture of the second half of the seventies, and a pioneer dedicated to the training, study, exhibition, dissemination and production of photography. The professional career of its promoter, Albert Guspi (1943-1985), a great innovator and central figure of the new Spanish photographic scene of the seventies, culminated in the CIFB project. Despite its brief existence, barely five years, the CIFB allowed the recomposition of the photographic culture of the Spanish transition.

This publication compiles extensive documentation on the CIFB and includes testimonies and photos by Enric Aguilera, Julio Álvarez Sotos, Miquel Arnal, Jesús Atienza, Anna Boyé, Tino Calabuig, Sergi Capellas, Lluís Casals, Lara Castells, Josep Cunillera, Pep Cunties, Manel Esclusa, Pere Formiguera, Ferran Freixa, Juana Furió, Jordi García, Manolo Laguillo, Esteve Lucerón, Xavier Martí Alavedra, Eduard Olivella, Lucho Poirot, Jordi Pol, Pep Rigol, Humberto Rivas, Xavier Rosselló, Jordi Sarrà, Manuel Serra, Sandra Solsona, Eduardo Subías, Josep Tobella and Mariano Zuzunaga.

The book Centre Internacional de Fotografia Barcelona (1978-1983) has been awarded by PHotoEspaña with the honourable mention in the national category of the "Prize for the best photography book of the year for the 2012 edition".
